Educational Philosophy
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature morally, intellectually, spiritually and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential by creating a safe environment supporting risk-taking, critical thinking, creative problem solving and effective communication. Principles of responsibility, diligence, cooperation and respect for each other is what I believe a stong foundation is build upon.
Rigorous acadmeics balanced with a nurturing environment are key to setting up our future generations for success. In education, the standards seem to change on a regular basis. There are new discoveries every day, and I need to be up to date in the understanding of these discoveries. It is paramount for me to continue to take classes in order to stay abreast of the latest information and topics in education to provide the rigor necessary for success.
Obtaining a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Techonology supports my philosophy of providing rigor by offering an experience to students similar to the what will be expected of them in the real world. It is important for me to act as a facilitator who sets technology driven project goals for each student and provide them with the necessary resources and guidelines to reach those goals.

Standard I

While making a collage and graphing lesson plan, I learned to take advantage of many microsoft word tools to maximize student work. The lesson plan adds value to my unit plan and supports student's in learning the material across two subjects.
|
Standard II
|
My unit plan is very rich in technology driven learning that can be used across different subject areas. It encompases many of my lessons by using many microsoft tools, web 2.0 tools and Movie Maker. The rubric I used is very vaulable and easily made through a simple web site. I will use these tolls in the future to assess my students achivement.

Standard III
|
Making a TEASe on Microsofts's MovieMaker was a great experience. It improved my knowledge and power to introduce a unit to my students by adding content that is exciting for them to watch and discuss. The subject sampler is a great way to have my students use technology to explore a new unit. I will continue to use the web 2.0 tools and games to support my student's learning.

Standard IV

The glog was a great experience and I learned to use tools from the website to create a visual page of information including text, pictures and videos on a topic. This can be a really useful tool for my students to show their knowledge of what they have learned in a creative way.

Psychology Research Paper (The Effects of Student Achievement and the IWB)
|
This paper was a great tool for me to use to prove my educational theories. I leanred that there are many opinions about education out there and becoming knowlegeable about them made me more aware of my teaching. I really enjoyed conducting my own research study in my own classroom and feel that doing more of that will benefit my kids and my school.
