Introduction: This subject sampler will give you information about geography - a discovery of the continents, the oceans and where you are on the map. Use the websites to learn as much as you can by completing the activities that go along with them. You will have to use what you know along with the information given to you in these activities.
The following websights come from the WorldWideWeb. Please click on each link and discover the world at your fingertips.
Internet Activities BrainPopJrVideo
Watch this BrainPop video on continents and oceans. Try to list all of the names of the continents and oceans out loud after you watch it. Take a sheet of paper and name the continent you live on and one that you would like to visit one day. Write down in a couple of sentences why you would like to visit that continent one day.
WorldMapwithAnimals
View this map. Look at the animals and write down a journal entry letting me know if you think it's a good idea to include animals on the map to label each continent. Why or why not?
UnlabeledMap
Print out this map. Notice how all the oceans and continents are not labeled.
HelperMap
Use this map to label the oceans and continents on the map you just printed out. Highlight a continent that you are interested in visiting or have visited before.
USMap
View this map and pretend you are an astronaut in outerspace looking down at the United States. Find Texas. Put a big heart around it because you live there. Circle a state that you would like to visit on your next vacation.
Conclusion: I hope you've had fun learning and making connections with the continents, oceans and the United States in this subject sampler. Be prepared to explain more about the continents you would like to visit and list the ones you don't know much about. I look forward to hearing which places look interesting to you.
